Softly Setting ...

By sut68
Got invited out by Mr Hirst [Tandberg] yesterday, so took a trip across the water to New Brighton and had a good laugh at Perch Rock ... great to meet up again mate, don't make it so long a break next time Wink

Had fun with the 10 stopper earlier on ... this being one of the results. I do like the flexibility that filter offers.

Cheers for dropping in, busy working [again] so will catch up when I can in a bit.

Paul

I lookin at mine and think, jeez that time out was bad thing.

I got a lot of catching up to do, i feel amatuerish compared to ya both and i honestly admit that without any hesitation. The break's done me health good, but not me photography.
You can and do forget over time what settings are good for etc.

So well shot mate, and yeah we wont leave it so long again.

Thats a bit special Paul. Absolutely love that sky. Great to see it moving diagonally, works really well. Any idea what the lighter band is around the bottom of the lighthouse? I noticed it on Frans upload as well. Is it where the tide comes up to and is therefore clean?

You'll pick it up soon enough Dave [Tandberg], get yer mojo sorted and the awards will follow Smile

Had a look at the original Dave [dp] and it looks like it may be a slight touch of grad transition and also the lower angles of the wall may be reflecting the light a little more, though I can't guarantee that. Less defined in the original, but does seem to accentuate it when you go smaller.

A big thanks all, enjoy your evenings.

Interesting Paul, thanks for taking the trouble, it was bugging me! I suppose its at a flatter angle on that section to so it may be picking up more light from the sky.

Anyway, have my UA for this week, stunning quality sir.

Big thanks Dave for coming back and giving this your much appreciated UA Smile ... been through some of my other Perch shots [and a few others on here, some in HDR too] and it seems to be similar on a lot of those too under similar low light conditions ... will keep an eye out for that in future.

Ta too Chris, cheers for your time mate Smile

Thanks Lianne Smile

Actually Dave [dp], if you take a look at the top of the lighthouse, the rim around the walkway is angled up too and also appears lighter. There must be a certain amount of ambient light reflected off these surfaces ... less at the bottom as it's not as acute, but there all the same ... my excuse and I'm sticking to it Smile
