Something different

By HobbitDave
Bought this very large slice of agate geode for a fiver off an unwanted items website. Described as 'a pretty polished stone' and a photo showing the stone looking about 2" across.

It's almost 12" across and about 1/2" thick, highly polished, and has very beautiful concentric contours and colours when held to the light. There's also a dragon in there in the lead image if you look carefully on the RHS, he's been there since the volcanic rock was formed a few million years ago Wink

Hey ho.....intend to make the huge slice into a lamp over the winter.

I put this up as was inspired by Isabel (EPZ Chinga) and her polished stones pictures yesterday. Thanks Isabel.

Terrific stones and love the bluey/grey, although can't quite make out the dragon!

Impressive piece of stone and well depicted here Dave.
Definitely a dragon there, looks like you got a bargain and you were not disappointed with your purchase. Dont tell anyone else about the site or they will all be hunting dragons! Debs

Thankfully there was only one of these and not likely to be any more, Debs. I haven't seen an agate geode slice this big, it's something am interested in, geology.

Your dragon only has one eye Dave. Definitely not a Chinese one.
