Soot

By Fefe
Taken Saturday while on a walk at Monsal Head in Derbyshire. Please view large. The last time I went in this tunnel (that is a dis-used railway line and now part of the Monsal Trail), was back in 2014 when I first purchased this camera, I remember I wanted to try out its ISO capabilities. But I had only had the camera a short while and was still very much learning how to use it.
2014

Today's image was taken from deep within the tunnel where you cant see daylight and a long exposure of 30 seconds.
I could have sat there for ages trying different shutter speeds etc, but I think Mr Fefe wanted to move on TongueTongueWink.....please beware, if you do sit here....in all the years since it was a railway line, they have still not cleaned up the soot TongueTongueTongueTongueBlush

I do have a few more images GrinGrin
Please note that although I am known to faff quite a bit Wink...this most of my images only have regular tweaks and this has had hardly any tweaks at all Grin

So grateful for all recent C&C and UA's on my previous image 'Banners'!

Really like this!! Know what you mean about partners & long exposures; Mrs C often frowns when tripods and/or long exposures are mentioned Wink

Great composition Diane, and the low angle works really well. I do like the differing colours in the stonework and how the eyes are drawn to the lights, guiding the viewer round the bend.......oops, in the nicest possible way!!

To tweak or to faff? That is the question...decision, decisions...*sigh*
Terrific long exposure capture, Diane...and you tell that bloke he'll have to wait as long as it takes, and stop complaining!Wink

That's a fascinating structure, well portrayed here, Diane, with the rounded profile of the tunnel broken by angularity. Further into the frame, the browns alternate with greys, highlighting the complex shapes. The curve of the lights, however, is more organic, and all this is shown to best advantage by the low pov. Very effective.

Like the low viewpoint, gives it a strong sense of perspective, and viewing large on my super-duper new large desktop's screen, I feel like I'm right in there. Makes me think of a set from a James Bond film, where the baddy has his underground empire... 😃 I do hope you didn't end the shoot with a sooty bum 😨 More please, Diane, and more faffing... 👍

Familiar territory but haven't been there for a while! A very impressive image and well worth the 30 seconds of open shutter! That'll be a gong then! 🏆
This is a wonderful composition....in love the curve and the repetition.

Love the different panels of colours on the walls and ceiling.
