South Marine Park

By gingerdelight
A view of the Park in South Shields, although this time I haven't included the Ladies in the shot. You can quite clearly see the new Bandstand, behind which is the boating lake, then the seafront fairground and, finally, the sea.

The park also has attractions that appeal to a younger audience thanks to the 250,000 new play area complete with water play features and adventure climbing frames. A firm favourite with all ages is the boating lake. As well as enjoying a leisurely row or pedal around the lake, visitors can get up close to a huge number of swans, ducks and geese who have made the park their home. For those who prefer to let the train take the strain, the miniature steam railway operates throughout the main season and this is a great way for young and old to see more of the park. There are now park rangers based in the park and they organise a range of fun activities throughout the year.

I have also uploaded the same shot converted to sepia, as I thought it gave the Park an old-fashioned look.

Thank you for all your comments on the "Ladies", and for your good wishes on my new job. I have survived the first day intact, so may just go back tomorrow!

I know that park from passing by on walks, never explored it... V2 for me, it always looks a Victorian sort of place, it has such innocent pleasures. Well I thought so until you started uploading pink squares from there!

I rather like the off-set composition and sepia is an ideal treatment for the view; I do find it a touch aggressive, though, so I've toned it down a little for my mod and tried to lose the invasive plant without otherwise altering the composition.

Hmmm...hard to decide. V1 by a wispy hair, I think. I do like how the bandstand and the trees in the background stand out more in the sepia version, though.
