When I saw the thumbnail I was thinking Turkey for some reason Wink so great to see it's Southend. Good time to take the shot when it's dark enough to see the lights but there is still some colour in the sky. Your shutter speed is quite long though at 1 sec and you have got a bit of blur on the people on the right. I wonder if you need all that depth of field and whether you could have opened the aperture a little to give you a bit shorter shutter speed. Otherwise ask people to keep very still Wink

best wishes

Decent shot but, for me, a bit over exposed. Would prefer up to a stop less to increase density. i don't mind the verticals and assumed a rather wider lens setting than 32mm - 48mm with the 1.5 Nikon crop.

Assume you used a tripod or suitable support as quite sharp.

I haven't been to Southend for ages and those lights don't tempt me to go again!

Your shot however does them justice. I've uploaded a mod. in which I've simply increased the contrast just a touch which has livened it up a bit.
As Paul has said, it's certainly sharp enough and (unsurprisingly) I haven't concerned myself with the verticals.

The mod. has suffered a bit during the upload; a common problem for me. I sharpened it slightly, expecting a problem but it hasn't worked. Your original andv my mod. are much sharper in CS5 than they appear on here.
