I had the immense pleasure of photographing this beauty in my own garden yesterday. I have it on a good source that this is an immature male specimen. After taking the initial record shots with my viewpoint from the back of the insect showing the detailed wings, I decided to gingerly move around trying to gain a different perspective and framing from favourably. I was lucky that the dragonfly remained in situ for some 10 minutes so I was able to take quite a few images.
