Hello, Mark. I like the subtle tones you have captured at this time of day, but feel that you had a dilemma here because you wanted to include the rising sun on the horizon, as well as the play of golden light on the pier. In so doing, your composition has suffered, as I think the pier would look better if you moved more to the left and captured its length, giving it about two-thirds of the horizontal space. I just feel you have cut too much of it off. Also, your foreground shore is very uninteresting and I'd prefer to see it either cropped or not included at all. So, by going in closer and moving more to the left, I think you'd have a good image, allowing the sky and reflections to show that it's dawn without including the sun.

I think you captured the sunrise pretty well here. It looks well exposed and there is detail in the foreground. The issue is, of course, the composition as Pamela has already pointed out. I think it may have been better to have taken this from the other side of the pier with the sun showing through the pier supports - if that is possible. Composition aside I think it is worth correcting the lean oof the pier and straightening the horizon. I think there is also scope for lifting the colours and adding some contrast - I will try it on a mod. Keep'em coming - Steve.
