Spain #53

This set will be the last of the brief series on architecture.....with a little wrinkle. One of the things we saw in Spain, particularly in Barcelona and Seville were "contained" archeological digs of the Roman cities. Here, this one was under the roof of a former market...it must cover about 2 acres..... Also, the Museum of Barcelona is built over ancient Roman buildings, and when you go in, you follow a pathway through the excavations. Barcelona was then a much smaller walled city, still a Mediterranean port city. We also saw people actively working this site at one point.

Have good weekends...in place. And, one of the things i have heard people say is that every day feels like Sunday.

Peter

Impressive views of the excavation, of course it seems to have been finished, without other works in progress. Excellent photos, Peter!

Really interesting: built-in security for the excavations, and weather protection!

How wonderful to see Peter....the hidden remains of a fallen Empire ....
Hopefully our civilization will be unearthed one day by future generations .
I wonder what they will think of us .
Thx for sharing this
Bst regards Walt
