"Spanish Armada"

By RonnieAG
In one area of my local park (Pollok Country Park), and fortunately in just the one area, the Spanish Bluebells have taken over from our native species. In the above photo there are just one or two small patches of our dark blue bluebells showing. There's no doubt the invaders make for quite a display, but at the expense of ours.

My thanks to all wo commented on Leafy Lens and with special thanks to Sue, Dougie, John and Bob for their User Awards.

Ronnie.

A most beautiful bed of colour, so very well observed, composed and photographed. A pleasure to view.

Thanks for sharing Ronnie.

A wonderful forest carpet, Ronnie. And yes, the Spanish have invaded in many ways over the years. Let's hope this one is contained simply as an alternative example.

A vibrant carpet, Ronnie, but also a very good and useful comparison between the two varieties, not oft seen together.
The soft fragrance flows from your image Ronnie.
A delight of colour.

A very well chosen title to back up your image Ronnie. Great observation to find the two species together and for once I can see the difference between them. Several areas of my garden are awash with bluebells but alas they appear to be Spanish

It is a lovely display, but not got quite that 'magic' of our own deeper blue bluebells.

Your image has prompted me to walk around my garden and I have found several native bluebells which are smaller, but fully formed, and a much deeper blue than the majority. I never knew what the difference between them was before so very happy you posted this picture

A lovely floral sight, but I do prefer the native ones too.

I don't think we'd want to send them home - what a fabulous display Ronnie.
PCP is a wonderful place to live near.

Will they be allowed to stay if Brexit actually happens? What's wrong with planting native varieties???

A wonderful display and one of the best 'carpets' I've seen this year, Ronnie.
A place I'd love to visit when we next ventured north of the border.
