When you get to the end of the suggested route around the Vatican Museums, you arrive at this amazing spiral staircase which leads you to the exit. One of the most photographed staircases in the world, it was designed by Giuseppe Momo in 1932, and the broad steps are somewhere between a ramp and a staircase. The stairs are actually two separate helixes, one leading up and the other leading down, that twist together in a double helix formation.
The staircase was actually one of my very earliest uploads after joining EPZ (also called Spiralling Down
), way back in August 2008, but only having the 18-55mm lens at the time, couldn't get as much of it in as I would have liked, so tried again 4 years later with the 10-20mm set at its widest angle!
Single Raw image processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Photomatix Pro and Photoshop Elements 11
Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.
