Spirit of Django

By John_Humphreys
I spent an enjoyable 15 minutes listening to these wonderful musicians on Shop St., Galway last weekend before approaching them to ask if I could take a few photographs. No problem. I also found out that they were from Slovakia but the language barrier prevented us from having a more in depth conversation.

I usually like to let people know I'm taking their photograph as it gives them a chance to react to the camera and have some involvment in how they want to be portrayed. I was rewarded in this shot with the young violin player's gaze straight into the lens.

Pity you can't all hear the music too.

Why, John, these your eventful words are not heard by some epz candids' photographers who like spy and steal photos?!
Excellent observation-goes to my "Words of Photography Wisdom" collection

I think I would probably do the same in this situation John. They look natural and I do like your use of selective colour.

In response to George... Then it wouldn't be a candid ?!

The interaction works well here. It wouldn't have had the impact if they were not aware of your camera.
