It's a good looking shot and a lovely crisp BW conversion. The reflections in the bodywork and chrome really do add life. And I think I can see the monkey Wink

Thanks Dave. I hope you are not just saying that; there really is a monkey.

Must be viewed large to fully appreciate this great shot. I think I can see the monkey but I didn't let it distract me from this super B&W.

Dave has nicked all my comments as I copied it and went super large and think the monkey hangs off the rear view mirror.

Fantastic shot,car and work.

It was in surprisingly good nick Keith: most of the ones we saw chugging around Havana had been panel-beaten to within an inch of their lives. Must have one careful owner. I've probably exaggerated how low it is because of where i've placed the reflection, mind.

I would love to know how you created the reflection?

This is magnificent. It works supremely well in mono and the treatment you have given it is superb. It's pictures like this that make viewing the site an absolute Joy. Andy

Thanks again all.

Thair - the reflection was fairly straightforward in photoshop. I first cut cut the car out from the background (the background was quite detailed so I did it the slow way with a layer mask and the brush tool), and set a black layer as the bottom layer.

For the reflection I duplicated the layer and flipped the new copy vertically. Then I applied a white-to-black gradient on the layer mask for the upside-down layer so that the reflection fades out further away from the car.

I used noiseware to reduce noise on the bonnet etc which also has a softening effect, and selectively sharpened the headlights and other areas where I wanted to keep the detail. Black and white conversion using the CS3 B&W layer tool.

Really nice shot, - way nicer in the large version, - with or without monkey, - the reflections are gorgeous.
