Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata)

By teocali
Another Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa striata), taken in our garden in July, before they all suddenly disappeared!
V2 - uploaded 4pm - Had a go at cloning out the leaf above the bird's head, using the Content Aware tool in CS5 - took about half a minute - would be interested in views.
Settings: F/5.5 1/80sec ISO400 AV@700mm tripod

Many thanks for your great response to my last upload, young "Abbi" - really appreciated as always Smile

This is a lovely shot Sylvia. In this pose he is giving you the perfect angle to get the whole body in wonderful sharp focus and I dont think you could have found a better perch if you had been able to place him by hand. Superb.

Stunner Sylvia, a great Summer visitor and so well captured on a great natural perch.
Really like the improvement on V2 and with those 2 leaves removed using Content Aware, it has given more impact to the Flycatcher
Great work

Absolutely superb, Sylvia. Must be viewed large to truly appreciate just how immaculate the plumage detail is. I agree that removal of the green leaves at top does improve the shot. And if Richard says it's a stunner you know you are doing pretty well, I reckon.

very good taking out the leaf in V2 thats the shot for me, I use another tool in CS5 I am quite taken with and thats removing an object (lassoo tool then edit and fill) it doesnt work ALL the time but 95% of the time yes it does

Excellent image Sylvia. I like v2 as the bright leaf is just a tad distracting.

A tip top capture of this lovely bird perched so prettily on the cotoneaster, great detail and light and I don't have a problem with version one either.

Egads, that content-aware stuff is stunning. If you presented those the other way round, you could easily convince me that #2 was the original shot and you'd superimposed the leaf in #1!
