Spring Blizzard

By LynneJoyce
Taken on the morning of Saturday 23.03.2013, this series has a verse to go with it that sums up my feelings about this winter perfectly. You can find it here:-

If the images look a little like pastel drawings that's because it never stopped snowing during the walk, tiny, tiny snowflakes that you can see hurtling across in several of the pictures. They were driven by a vicious easterly wind, a lazy wind that couldn't be bothered to go round you but cut straight through you instead. The wind created some interesting shapes as you can see in versions 5, 9 & 15.

I had to put my camera's raincoat on and that meant looking at the viewfinder through wet plastic, always a hit and miss affair. Add to that wet, frozen fingers and the difficulty of trudging through deep snow you can see that it was a photographic adventure/lottery. The dogs absolutely loved it of course.

As always the opening image is not necessarily my favourite but the one I think makes the best thumbnail. This one also has the 'Aaaaaaaah' factor with Helga doing her very best cute pose! Anyway here they are, a documentary record of the second day of Spring in West Yorkshire. Thanks for looking and I hope that you like at least some of them. Do tell which you like best.

Oh wow!!!!I take it you are not thrilled with the 2nd day of Spring. Wonderful "winter" images... and the last one just made me laugh... a snowed in car. To us in hot South Africa it is a beautiful winter wonderland, but I know you are all sick of it.......... great set of images

An amazing set of images for the second day of spring, Lynne!
Where we are in the West Midlands the snow is nowhere near as bad as where you are!
Let's hope this dreadful weather clears up soon; it's getting beyond a joke!!

Please dont tell me to pick the best as I like them all.Snow is lovely to look at and to have some photos, but it can be verry dangerous to walk and drive in.
Just heard the news about a 27 yr old lad that fell and died in the snow last night.

Now I go for v8, and I'm surprised you haven't attacked it yet with some of your CS magic, Lynne. Off to Heathrow tomorrow by car so don't want any more white stuff down here, ta.

The snow may have been (was) totally undesirable, but these images-- all of them---are outstanding!

A wonderful set of "late winter" snow scenes, i think v1 was the perfect choice as the lead. Thankfully we've avoided the snow and only had rain but the hills a few miles from where I live where most of my landscape pics are taken are covered in the white stuff!

This set confirms how much more snow you have had that we in the Glasgow area, and has documented well the conditions in your part. In fact I like V 1 as much as any, partly b/o the subject matter and partly as the dog's colours show so well against and contrast with the snow.

I love them all, Lynne, rarely seeing any snow in my village for years on end. V.1 is wonderful, but I am leaning towards V.8 as my favourite, just like the general composition of it. Carol

A wonderful set of wintery images each crammed with so much charm and character Lynne.
My particular favourite is already in pole position.
A beautiful image of Helga measuring the depth of the snow with her bum.
What a novel idea, I would rather like council gritters to do the same thing before choosing to omit our village because the snow is too deep...

A set of excellent winter story, well, you may shout at me:"It was spring!"Grin Grin Wonderfully taken. Is it wonderful to have dogs? I thought of going to take some photos yesterday after I saw your last snow set, but when I looked out of the window.. I thought:"...Oh, no..."Grin My memory of yesterday was quiet, eerily quiet, nobody was about, only the snow was like an ideal Christmas day. When I saw V13, the boy(girl) brought the whole picture to life....
BTW, thank you for your comment on " Aview..."

Blimey, Lynne, and I thought it was bad here - this is about 3 or 4 times as deep! Sad It's provided you with some great images, though, and think V1 has to be my fave Smile

Guess it helps make living with snow a lot happier if you have your own, fully grown fur coat on when you head out for a walk in it as in V1! Heard how bad the condition were in your area, of course and this set certainly proves it. I enjoyed the tour, given I was sitting indoors by the heater here! I think V1 is still my favourite, no doubt being very doggie minded. Grin

Thats a lot of snow Lynne, and full marks to you for talking out in it,with your camera at the ready, good captures in very hard conditions my fav is 14 love it infact love everything about it ,
