Spring Mixture

By Irishkate
Don't know whether laugh or cry with trying to get everything right!
I have to admit yesterday's image went totally against the grain for me,
but I was trying to be more haphazard! Quite a few critiques on how to improve
on the composition then along comes Carol (Humblebee) who gave me her precious User Award!
So today's problem for me was the decking on which I took this image (you mostly wanted to see bottom of bottles!) so do I leave it natural, paint it or take up knitting?Tongue
Have a good week.

This is more simple than your last image but it works better IMO. I love the sky in the background and I like how you are slightly looking up towards the flowers. Well done on an excellent imageGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

A great arrangement Kate, like the use of the sky as a background, well capture.SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

As remarked above(Williamsloan), it's what you see and want from your images, keep going, develope your style, look at the comments/ critque, some you might not agree with, and others you will see how it will help, but analize each comment/critique in conjuction with your image.

I hope you can see were I am comeing from, we have a great community here with a wealth of knowledge, and people who are only to willing to inpart that knowledge, to help all of us.

Still life... It's a mystery to me, but it looks good!
29 Apr 2013 6:54PM
natural background in a still life ? You are really pushing the boundaries of what people will find acceptable here.... ( Though I bet you do get some comments saying it breaks some rule or other that judges in club comps won't like ! Wink ).Peter

Ah! Don't take up knitting, Kate! We'd miss your artistic temperament, and experimental adventuring! Just bin that brown bottle, pretty please? Its yellow flower, being the brightest element in the image, is very eye-catching. Remember KISS! The left hand blue bottle and its flower are f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s (as Craig Revel Hawood is want to say!)
Just to please this old biddy - try a vertical composition with just this arrangement. If you can manage another blue sky - perfectos!!
Don't give up experimenting and having fun! So few people do that! If I knew how to make an award - I would give you one just for being so adventurous with your camera, bottles and flowers!!!

I love it Kate, especially with the sky and clouds as a backdrop and the point of view is excellent, as for taking up knitting, you could do both, I do Wink look forward to seeing more ... Carol GrinGrinGrin
