Squirrel Food Thief ...

By sut68
Whilst out with Cheryl, Edgar, Will, Fran, John & John [ta for the lens again mate] snapping squirrels, a couple of opportunistic feathered thieves came calling and snaffled some of the bait left out for the Squirrels.

I think this one is a Chaffinch, but I'm prepared to be corrected. The shot isn't quite as sharp as I would've ideally liked as there is a tiny bit of motion on 'him', but it's the best bird shot I've taken and as such stays. I just loved his mischievous look with some of the booty hanging out of his beak.

Hope you all had a great weekend and are suitably refreshed for the week ahead. Cheers for looking in.

Paul

I had a go at shooting some birds earlier this year, and found out how quick they move. Bit quicker than your average landscape!! Looks good to me as well.

Cheers guys for your time and comments. Don't get me wrong, the shot is fairly sharp at size, just that when I saw what this lens and extender combination could do, I got more critical about this result.

Looks okay on here though Wink

Cute title - in our parts we generally blame the squirrels for thieving the bird food. Smile

Yes, the 1000 pixel image looks perfect! I'll take your word for it not being perfect. Beautiful wood and background though and the seed in the beak makes this bird look so guilty.

Ta Ty, LOL @ Ron too ... like it Wink

Cheers too Patrick. I'm being really picky in saying that, but it the large version there is a small amount of motion which just spoils it slightly, but at this size it's not that noticeable.

He's probably getting his own back after having 'his' eggs smashed by the pesky squirrels!

As for the image, what can you say, it don't come much better than this.

Superb.

Very tricky subject....and thats just getting the make and model right (failed with my ID earlier this year!!). Looks fine to me Paul, slight movement or not I would have been well happy with this, especially using an unfamiliar lens Smile

The lens was/is a beast Martin, getting used to it wasn't a problem, it amost took the shot itself Wink

Remember rod hull and emu, well thats what the bird reminds me of, that bloody annoying bird, as for the shot, its a cracker, timing is spot on, and it is sharp.
