Another postcard shot I'm afraid!
This monolith was left behind by 19th century quarrymen who quarried Purbeck Pond Freestone at St. Albans Head (also known as St. Aldhelms Head).
Its amazing how it is still standing after all these years and there are one or two huge cracks in the rock!
Thanks to all those that clicked, commented or voted on yesterdays upload, I hadn't quite expected that so many of you would have liked it!
Have a great weekend, be it out and about or at home catching the olympics... Aren't us Brits doing well.
A good composition, Mark, well captured. Carol
Very well captured Mark
That looks quite frightening!! Yes we are doing well in the Olympics Long may it continue!
I bet a few have tried to push it over! A good angle to show it at it's most precarious, Mark.
(congrats on getting shortlisted for the Seaside Comp)
Glad I am not standing near that..
a great shot Mark
Beautiful - and I'm glad you took the image with that pure blue sky!
I feel dizzy, well spotted.
But--- I would take shots like this if I lived anywhere near rocks and sea--
This makes me dizzy as well-- marvelous shot!
Great clarity and exposure.
What a view point! Getting vertigo here! Well done, such a good image. IB
Beautiful contrast. I'd love to be near the sea!
