This building in Church Street, Poole, dates from the early 15th century and was originally a Priest's house. It was reportedly built by the Guild of St George for the four priests saying masses at the old Church of St James. It has been used as almshouses since 1547 when it was taken over by the Corporation. The building was extensively altered in 1586 following the loss of the clergy when Elizabeth I came to the throne. In 1904 it was restored to provide accommodation for five retired people, and a timber projecting upper storey was removed.
Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Nik Collection’s Viveza 2 and Photoshop Elements 14.
