St Ives, Bingley.

By LynneJoyce
Took the dogs on a different walk yesterday with the specific purpose of catching the last of the Foxgloves that have colonised the area where the forest was cleared under orders from The Forestry Commission. I haven't been able to get up there for most of lockdown because the car parks were closed down.

To my surprise, this year white Foxgloves predominate, whereas last year it was the magenta ones. As you can see in this post some hybrids of magenta and white are flourishing too, along with other Summer plants. My opener features a bumble bee that I rescued with my drop of honey technique.

The dogs enjoyed the walk immensely and I have included a couple of shots featuring Ansel's favourite bit of silliness for Sunday, chewing trees. We all have our own little bits of insanity and this is his.

Thank you for viewing and I hope that you enjoy at least some of these images.

Foxgloves are biennial, and so you will get different ones appearing every other year.
I well remember some areas being cleared in the New Forest, and foxgloves appearing where I hadn't ever seen them before, so I think the clearing of the land stirs up a load of seeds that lay dormant.
A lovely reminder of these attractive plants, Lynne. I have been unsuccessful getting them to flower in my garden.

Very interesting to see so many white foxgloves.
One appeared in my garden this year
Last year we came across acres of foxgloves in all shades of purple, pink and white.
The dogs look as if they are having fun.
Glad you got to another area again.

A great collection here, Lynne 👍 The tall purple flower (don't know what they're called) in V12 always reminds me of when I were a lad! Being brought up in Leeds, our house was looking out across part of Hunslet Moor, and on the other side of the moor was the tram track, and alongside the Middleton Railway. There were hundreds of these plants growing alongside both tracks 😃 Have to go for the lead as my fave, and your rescued bee friend has provided you with a super image 👍
