St Paul

Continuing with the sculptures of the Apostles from the nave of the Basilica of St John Lateran (Rome). Number 4 in the series is St Paul, completed in 1718 by the French sculptor Pierre-Étienne Monnot. Monnot was also commissioned to create the Tomb of Pope Innocent XI for St. Peter's Basilica.

A virtual sculpture exhibit, this new series about the 12 niches in San Giovanni in Laterano. It's an eyes delight!

The have all been so well photographed, I love to see such magnificent workmanship.
