...clouds filled with rain then periods of bright sunshine and blue sky. It's all about timing and watching the horizon, get it wrong and you get soaked. The Isle of Arran is under the cloud on the shore of the River Clyde at Portencross, Ayrshire, Scotland.
I usually imagine a line of individual, skeletal trees atop a low hill. Glad you were the one to prove me wrong!A lovely image and very different.

Amazing to see it like that...you are in a relatively bright area yet those clouds show the impending darkness and wet - lovely contrast in that.
When I was on the Isle of Bute I witnessed similar stuff...stood there in lovely sunshine but beyond was having a real downpour.

The big sky above the sea and Arran gives a great sense of the wide open spaces, Dougie: any time I have tried something like this, the horizon becomes very curved but you have managed to keep it nice and straight.
