Steam Poster

By cabbie
Good morning everyone

This is something of a first for me two contributions in two days, but I find myself with a little problem. I have a passion for the old railway posters and seaside posters of the 50's and found myself doing another version of Goathland station (sorry to bore you). Deciding I wanted to print this on cheap thin tin like the old brasso ,woodbine, pears soap type on old station walls for outdoors all I can find is people who will only print on thickish aluminium. So is there anybody with suggestions out there?. Many thanks for all your kind comments on the last upload as usual I was blown away

Bob

Superb processing here - love it!
You could try whitewall.com or dscolourlabs.co.uk
Alternatively try aging it yourself around the edges or such - the aluminium is fab - particularly from Whitewall where they print directly onto aluminium (as opposed to a photo mounted onto the aluminium which is naff!) and you have a choice of 2 thicknesses. I have several of these - and they have lasted so very well - don't even attract the dust!! Smile

Have you tried an enamel company rather than a photo processing company Bob? I don't know whether it's possible but it may be worth a try,

I can really understand this additional post. And I really like the poster style of this version.
Sorry I can't help with where to get the Erick you're after, but hopefully Caziwinkles suggestion helps.
Nice work

No idea about tin printing Bob but I think Caziwinkles has suggested the best places but there must be somewhere as you can get reproduction Brasso ones etc. It is a lovely shot and deserves a special treatment.

Excellent work Bob and a classic shot, all that smoke and steam takes me back to being a kid again. Hope you are able to sort out your tin printing problem.

What a smasher Bob. I too love old steam trains.
Used to collect engine numbers when I was a kid. Usually had
a telling off for coming back stinking of steam, or covered in coal specks
Our steam trains only run in the winter here ( W A) because of
causing bush fires.
Can’t help you with the mounting but it seems Carol has some good ideas.
All the best with your project…...WinkWinkWink

Hi Bob, love the image mate and had a look out there for possible answers, however the ones I found were prohibitively expensive for a one off print. I did come across a company that allows you to print onto a metalic type surface, you then need to treat afterwards with a protective spray (weatherproof etc) this is the contact info I found if it helps ok. p.s if this breaks any site rules then I apologise for my ignorence.

Wonderful work . We went from Bridlington on a day trip but if we stayed to see the trains steaming in all their glory we'd miss the coach home so we didn't see it Sad Looks a great image & well composed xx
