Steep Hill, Lincoln

Steep Hill is a street in the historic city of Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England. At the top of the hill is the entrance to Lincoln Cathedral, and at the bottom is Well Lane. The Hill consists of independent shops, tearooms and pubs, and is popular with tourists. Its name arises from the gradient of the hill, which is difficult to ascend and descend. The hill has a one-in-seven gradient. Believe me, it is easier going down than ascending!

Mono shows more "historical touch" and classical composition...
Like the s-curve going through the picture... like a river.

I like both versions. The quality of the colours is particularly nice. I am trying to work out your viewpoint for this shot, as you are level with the top of the hill. Were you in a tea room looking out of a window? I am very familiar with Steep Hill as I worked from an office in Lincoln for many years.

Great captures Ian. I’m sitting on the fence re mono or colour! I agree with Peter in that walking downhill is a struggle with my knees. 🤪

I like both but would vote for the mono – just. I also found going up less challenging – coming down in the present icy weather might be faster than expected.
