Stepping Out Down the Pier

By silverbells
Right - that's enough snow scenes from me!

Now I'm going to show you all some slices of the Great British Seaside for the next few uploads - very unseasonal I know but I need to escape winter and Seasonal Affective Disorder for a bit.

Here is Llandudno pier on one of the hottest days last summer.

Martin Parr-esque I have to say. I remember he did some seaside shots many years ago.
The UK is an obese nation and you've captured it here (not a criticism, just an observation) Smile

Definitely signs of Parr - and also, I'm glad to say, of a degree of formal composition I don't see in most of his shots. I love the triangles in this... I find his work interesting, but it's more social comment than art.

Shot at the perfect moment: shades, therefore, of Cartier-Bresson, who really is a photographic hero of mine.

Many thanks for both of these comments which are spot on for where I was coming from in presenting this image

No, the photo's OK... I'm no Fashionista, but it seems to me that when a "larger lady" wears tight figure-hugging clothes, it really isn't a good look.

Wonderful composition and the figures are still a good size in the frame.
A fine candid at the seaside.
Love the diagonals vanishing into the corners.
