Still Quayside.

By Tooma
I have another two-fer for you from the River Tyne in Newcastle. Both shot on the same walk along the riverbank as my two previous offerings.

The bridge in my lead shot is the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

V1 is my 2nd shot, which I call, "Taking The Strain", and it features one of the buildings housing the access to the anchor point of The Tyne Bridge, which " is a through arch bridge over the River, linking Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead. The bridge was designed by the engineering firm Mott, Hay and Anderson, who later designed the Forth Road Bridge, and was built by Dorman Long and Co. of Middlesbrough. The bridge was officially opened on 10 October 1928 by King George V and has since become a defining symbol of Tyneside. It is ranked as the tenth tallest structure in the city.".

I think it has something of a New York feel about it - maybe partly due to the colours, shapes, and proximity of the nearby buildings. Glad I was there in winter, or that tree would have made my shot impossible.

**** Thanks to all for your votes, comments, and gongs, on yesterday's pics - all very much appreciated. ****

I like the soft warm evening light given the image a glow. You have captured the Millennium Bridge or "Winking Eye Bridge" very well. When we were last there we saw it opening, to let a boat go upstream.

It only looks warm, Dave - pretty cold, and that warm pink soon changed to lovely blue tones. To look at the Newcastle lasses heading out in their short sleeved tops -and jacketless - that added to the warm look. Hardy lasses - or mad for the styling.
