Still Standing

By MarkT
These are the doomed cooling towers next to the M1 and Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield. This shot was taken last September a week before they were originally due to be imploded. The towers are now coming down this Sunday at 3.00am and because the towers are only 17 metres away from the M1, the motorway will be closed. There seems to be a divided opinion on whether they should be demolished – I think they should stay.

Cheers,

Mark.

A nice strong image, Mark...I think it's definitely been decided they'll come down, but Sheffield will certainly miss this landmark.

Right ... the main issue for me is the direction of the arrow .. cant help but follow it out of the shot .. then I come back in to the shot to look at the cooling towers ..its not a manjor issue but it is something of a niggle. I might have tried working around and including more of the clutter to the left to try and get that arrow to appear more directions towards the towers ... or altenatively hunted around to see if there was another option.

The conversion is great and the use of layers within the shot excellent too but that arrow does annoy me a bit Wink

Worst case scenario I suppose a selection, clone tool of the tarmac and then repaste of the arrow after a slight rotate and skew might have been the only option if you fancied putting the work in.

Would definitely be interested in seeing it then!

Cheers for that Dan, I know what you mean about the arrow. I never thought about re-pasting it. I don't really agree with cutting and pasting in my images but in I don't mind cheating occasionally Wink. I will have a play with it when I've got 5 minutes.

Thanks for your time.

Mark.
