Stone and Worm Soup

By helenlinda
........................and here's a recipe that you won't find in any of Delia's cookbooks GrinGrinGrin
I had a wonderful time with Timmy in the garden on Monday while Joy took Samuel to visit a friend. First of all he helped me with the weeding, and collecting stones [note that's dry so far] Then the worms started to appear and as some were getting dry I suggested he put some water in his pot, so that they wouldn't die. Then it went from bad to worse as you can imagine.............. with Mud , mud, glorious mud. [the link gets to the song after just over a minute of chat]

...................and then in such a natural way he asked [he's 3 and a half ] "Grandma...........can things get alive when they are dead?"
.............and I said "well what happened to Jesus?"
"No", he replied "he rose again.............after 2, no 3 days" [holding up 2, then 3 fingers]
So the picture is developing in his mind. Surprising what playing with worms brings up.

v2 adding mud to the worms and stones.
v3 adding a few weeds - probably for flavour!!!

My daughter was a dab hand at making mud pies. She soon stopped after she tried to eat one. Kids, great aren't they. Lovely to see Helen.

You are so good with your grandchildren and must get lots of fun answering their questions.
We have to do a fair bit of negotiating with our grandson who is six - I tis funny to hear their arguments!

This brought back very happy memories of me making mud pies as a child. Such a wonderful activity for children. I'm so glad that you didn't discourage him and that you have these delightful additions to the family treasure chest as a result.

Just what children need - a bit of good old fashioned mud!
Maybe there wouldn't be so many allergies and that sort of thing!
A super trio, Helen!

These Brilliant images reminds me of my boysSmileSmileSmileThey always played with my old baking tins and making mud cakes all the time, and what great fun they had,And this is what children should play, not inside with some computer ,Ipads and silly games.
My two were always outside and with muddy hands, but they were the most healthy children in the whole school.
I just love theseSmileSmileSmileSmile
