Storm Clouds........

By TheSweetcornKid
I took this whilst fishing at East Lake, Chichester.

There is a small amount of green flare I can't seem to get rid of, at the tip of the tree..perhaps somebody can?

Most attractive and well composed low light image. I cannot see any sign of the green flare you mention, and had this shot been my own, I feel I'd have been pretty happy with it. I might have been inclined to clone out odd bits of vegetation along the left margin.

Hi Stu,
Good this isn't it!? Pleasantly understated, I think.
Ive cloned the green bit and replaced it with some treetop bits from further over.
I've cropped it ever so slightly to lose the bits poking in from the left and I've got rid of the telephone lines.
Hope it's OK.

Hi there - the approach I took was to select the offending green tinged area and desaturate the colour along with a slight darkening to match the existing tree tones.
I also then took the liberty of increasing saturation over the entire image, adjusting contrast, followed by a slight sharpening to enhance tree details.
I'd be interested to hear any comments on this mod.
Cheers -- Steve.

Hi Steve,
If I'd been working on the original, I'd probably have taken your route and selectively changed the colour of the offending bit.
Cloning's OK and sometimes it's your only choice but it's not my first preference if there's an alternative.
I think that saturation's really all in the eye of the beholder and sometimes you can end up with some truly amazing effects, which is OK, but it's also very easy to end up with a sky that couldn't possibly exist in real life. I'd say you've got away with it here, but I wouldn't push it any further.
Adding contrast and sharpening were good ideas and for some reason I did niether!
I find that it's always necessary to sharpen mods. quite seriously before I upload them as some sharpness seems to invariably get lost in the process. My pet theory is that it's to do with the resizing although I could be wrong!
Hope this helps.

nice shot of the sky and reflection and although i think you possibly intended the semi sillouette, i think the blacks are blocked up a little too much for my taste, the bits around the edges need cropping away.
there isnt much detail left to bring out of the shadows ,im afraid it looks as if it was exposed way to the left of the histograph.

the green bit was easy to clone out, just zoom in a lot and copy pixels clusters from further across the tops of the trees onto the green bit.

i did a mod but to be fair it didnt add much to those you have had previously
