Straight Edge

By marktc
Probably the last of the More London "Edge" series. Although the simplest of the edge images in terms of composition, it was also one of the most difficult to get right in terms of light and contrast on such a prominent flat surface.

Thanks to all those that clicked or commented on Angels Wing, but especially to Andy for his very welcome and much appreciated UA.

Superb. The sky is perfect.

For me, this is the genre where you are strongest.

I can see your problems with the light building and the dark broody sky - can the building be burnt in any more on right or am I expecting too much?
Otherwise a brilliant image with good contrast.

The convergence of those beautiful lines all leading to a fantastic Sky, a fabulous Image....John

Burning in that top right part of the building probably wouldn't work, as there's a limited amount of detail... the result would look false.
But I don't think the "problem" detracts from the image at all.

I'd quite like to see the whole thing just a touch darker and more contrasty, to give more drama. Raising the black point in Levels would work best, otherwise you'd risk burning out that "problem" corner. You work with Lightroom, if I'm not mistaken... does it have Levels??

The clarity and the lines are great, but I would like to turn the light off, but what do I know?
