Strawberry Cream

By Fefe
Hello People,
I hope the snow is thawing for you, like it is here.......Please no more nowTongueTongueTongueTongue

This was taken in February on our little trip to the Isle of Wight, Shanklin Old Village. It is hard in the summer to get a crowd free, double decker bus and car free shot of this scene. The fella on the corner taking photographs too was not moving out of shot though....so there he isTongueTongueTongue....cluttering up the placeWink
Chocolate box inspired my title...and the pink Ye Olde Thatch Teashop.

Thank you all so much for C&C on my last upload "Sunflower"the chipmunk Grin, Special Thank you to Jukka "Kuvailija" Peter "Mollycat" and Richard "Dickspics" for the lovely UA's!

Excellent composition the S curve of the road makes one wonder whats around the corner.Great handling of the light, looks like a sunny day, though the single person is dressed warmly, so I'll guess it was cooler than the sunshine suggests. Really good clarity, I know that some thatchers leave some form of sculpting on a roof as a sign that they were the thatcher & I couldn't help but notice the one on the roof of the white house next to the pink one. Is that a cat chasing a mouse or? I hope the home is not a bed & breakfast Smile

Cheers

Not changed much in 50 year's to my knowledge. This year is my 50th year of visiting the Isle of Wight, I did miss 3 years in the 1980's but I have visited twice or more so many times a year, so I say it makes up for those three missing years.Wink

Ron, thank you for your comment. It looks like summer but it was quite cold. Although there were daffodils and crocus in full bloom.
The white house has a cat chasing a mouse on top of the thatch and the cottage is a gift shop/antique shop with a tea garden at the back.
The pink cottage has a thatch teapot on top but it is not seen from this angle.
The Crab Inn (beyond the photographer in the image has just had a full brand new thatch....there was still bits of thatch on the floor.

Hi Diane, thanks for the quick reply & the info. I would imagine as you noted that it gets pretty crowded here in the summer, looks an interesting & picturesque village.

Great capture Fefe. I would prefer to think 'picture book' rather than the slightly denigrating Chocolalae Box.

Really lovely old quaint village scene Diane and so very well captured.
I'll have a fresh cream scone with raspberry jam please. I'll be careful when eating it though, as a friend of mine nearly died while eating a scone. He got dragged in be a strong current Wink

Bloomin' photographers, always getting in the way, no consideration at all... Sad Last time I was there it was early April (2014), and there was hardly anyone about. Along with Godshill, this has to be the prettiest part of the IOW. I like to lunch at the 'Crab Inn', seen here just left of centre in the background. Though I like most seafood, I don't like crab, and the odd thing is on looking at the menu in the pub, there was no crab to be had!! Tongue A very lovely capture, Diane, despite the offending togger SmileSmile
