Streets Of London

By Sezz
I took this in Covent Garden yesterday, it reminded me of a song that I like by Ralph McTell, the only song I can play on the guitar! Streets Of London

Have you seen the old man
In the closed down market
Kicking up the papers,
with his worn out shoes?
In his eyes you see no pride
and held loosely at his side
Yesterday's paper telling yesterday's news

So how can you tell me you're lonely,
and say for you that the sun don't shine,
Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London
I'll show you something to make you change your mind

Thank you as always for your time, your thoughts/comments are very welcome.
Regards - Sarah J x

My favourite viewpoint in London, I'd recognise those chairs and tables a mile off.
Good one. And I do prefer V2, that bit darker and more sombre.

Well spotted chance and so well seized, Sarah: the song seems to fit the photo so well.
I too like the slightly more contrasty V 2 also.
Looks as if he has been waiting resignedly for table service for yonks.

Both very good but the V2 processing seems to be more appropriate to the scene.

Nice song, which I seem to remember Anti No-where league punking up in the eighties.

Love it..

Brilliant, fantastic, love it! And more contrast or not, it's the content that matters in this image Sarah.
I wish I had taken this shot, as I have a Poem that would go so well with it.
A great image, proving that you're not all Castles and Boats Wink

V2 just takes it, Sarah. The slightly darker look appeals more. I wonder what he is waiting for? A waiter, or a friend? He appears to not be very happy! An image that asks questions.

Poor guy is probably being ignored because of his looks. Nice candid and I too prefer V2.

If you can play this on the guitar (Streets ), you should be able to play anything.

Grand shot.

Superb work and it would do well in exhibitions.

Just a suggestion, go into shadow/highlights, set shadows to 0% and highlights to 60%. This will give more detail to his head and face. I would then cover up the remaining white patch on his head with the paint brush.

Top draw piece of mono work. The elderly male subject has been very nicely captured in a very powerful part of the picture. The near square crop works a real treat and together with the lovely mix of mono tones (no washed out gray’s) makes for a super street capture. Love it.
