I can't decide between them - V1 has a lovely warm 'let's go bimbling in the woods' feel, whereas the mono V2 has a much darker 'don't go bimbling in the woods today' feel to it - almost threatening, but equally good.

like both and think they are fine as is they have a good atmospheric feel to them will try a wee tone map for you but I don't think I could get them any better that as shot so well done..5 mins for mod

The color imparts the mood of the image so much better than the mono. I like the subtle colors and tones in it. V1 for me.

I think the mono loses the definition and atmosphere, so V1 for me too!

Colour for me too, lovely, thought provoking image.

I don't know if mist can be done digitally but you have set a hare running in my head so I will get back to you on that!

Think I like colour best here. It shows the mist about to be burned off better I think.

Yes, you can make fake mist in Photoshop.

This to me is less of a mist shot, and more of a contra jour, and perhaps lens flare shot.

You are shooting into the light, so you will have some scattering of light from whatever mist may be there; this gives a low contrast, slightly soft look.

I think for mist, and what I have in my mind is an obvious layer of mist, with beams of light, - maybe not what youre thinking, you need low light at an agle to the mist, so your not shooting into the light.

Couldn't resist the challenge Kate so I dug into the archives for something landscape-y and had a tinker. The first shot I have uploaded as a mod is the original image, the second the one with digital mist added, the third (after Willie's comment) with added lens flare.

Thanks for the challenge.

Definitely the colour for me Kate - I like the surreal almost eerie look the person looks to be walking towards. Smile

The colour version gets top spot for me today, Kate!

Both versions work for Kate. Composed very well with the lady and the path taking your eye into the misty woodsGrin

Well done images are great and I can't choose between them. Love the way the road leads you into the photo towards the person then sweeps away to the right and into the background. Ann.
i like it makes me feel as if i am there

A finely constructed image, Kate and I do think the backllighting is very well suited to the mono version, my favourite. Grin

I appreciate the color here-- the poor walker would not want to walk into a dark mist--- Color is lovely!

PS--today's snow is rain---itis melting most of the ice as well!

Hi Kate. Nice picture.
I've never tried adding/accentuating mist, so I'll have a crack at it. Mod on it's way, see what you think.

V1 the colour version works for me best, I like the gentle misty mood in this country scene. I know you can add blur and misty effects in free photograph editing programmes like picasa and photofiltre but I haven't really tried it out though so I can't tell you how good they are

Kate, both work well but for me the colour image just seems to work better for me capturing the feel of the day.
