Sub Zero Sunrise

By LynneJoyce
We couldn't go down to our usual dog walk in Hirst Woods yesterday due to icy roads so I took the dogs out at their usual, very early time, in the locality. I have to keep them on their leads in that area so I took the Bridge camera to capture the very pretty sunrise and the snow. It was not ideal because I had to take all the photos one handed (the other hand had the leads in it) and dogs are not very good photographic assistants. It was absolutely freeeeeeeeeezing too so a number of shots were taken with my mittens on. It was a matter of making the best out of a far from ideal situation.

There's a fair number of jiggery-pokeried images in here because with some I needed to and with others I did it just because I can. N.B. they have not been colour enhanced.

Though the photographs may not meet Photo Mafia standards I achieved my objective. That was to capture the magic of a beautiful, roseate sunrise and some shots that show that even the most dreary landscape is enhanced by snow.

Thank you for viewing and I hope that you enjoy at least some of these images.

I have a cat who --pointedly--reminds me to walk to the end of my garden with him early in the morning--he has things to do out there--- He was sleeping in today, so I went alone with my cup of coffee--

SNOW got in my coffee--and I have yet to see this cat!

NO leash and no camera, but I have enjoyed your tree images-- with snow on them--- Especially v. 7 and a lovely sun rise!

Nice group of images here Lynne, and as you say, taken in less than perfect conditions.
The landscape didn't appear dreary, perhaps it's because I've not seen it previously, and this is your stomping ground, so a daily sight for you, one becomes blase about the surroundings.
Thanks for posting these images.

V2 and V6 my favourites of this freezing set, Lynne.
Well done for braving the cold with your camera to take these shots.
The snow and ice always looks much better in a photograph than
when you're standing shivering and wishing for a hot cup of tea
and a mince pie.
