...as well as the weather I've been seeing some softness at the sides of my images on my 17-40mm lens when shooting hand held. It's gone now on the tripod, I think.
You've seen this spot many times before the wee tree has started to vanish into the landscape but it still breaks my heart to see it dying.

Actually pretty good summer weather by recent standards, Dougie . . . Though the reeds and grasses are perhaps a little more lush than usual.
The view just isn't the same without the tree.

Scottish green Dougie, large amounts of water required to keep it this way. You have a glimmer of light Smile

Lovely comp and good reflections Dougie. A beautiful scene that one could never tire looking at no matter how much the landscape may change. I recognised this from the road last week Grin. Moira

Every time you pass this area you will get different shots from the varying light, colours, time of year: the soft summer colours under the cloud cover are still fine although I know your preference for those of winter.
Very well composed as ever, Dougie, and this one looking pin sharp in all quarters to my eye.

Dust to dust... Applies right across the natural world.
There are fresh greens coming through, nature's renewal.

Wonderful tones and colours Dougie! How about a fund for planting a new tree? Wink

I'd happily pay for it myself Rende but the powers that be are of the mind that they don't interfere with nature, short of allowing roads across the moor & viewpoints for tourism, but they don't plant anything is my understanding, we may see something yet, the wheels grind exceeding slow. Wink

A stunning and unique vista Dougie, even without that iconic tree. The colour and clarity are wonderful as is that sky and its reflection.
