Summertime in a quaint Cornish village

By PCarman
Was sitting there minding my own business, suping a capercino enjoying the swifts and watching the cars push past each other on the narrow lane of the village when these two lovely ladies stroll up one of which needed to get into the gate i was next too . Chatted about how amazing the weather was how she liked my hat which was similar to hers and what great taste we both had and turned out lived next door to a friend id done a shoot of a while back so asked if ok if i took a photo as looked very summery and yay !! Rather pleased with it . Used my old 70/300 recently as wanting to get that compresion thing it does from a distance so that's why i had it . Again can't understand why it's flipping doin that EP as keep correcting it ?? mind you maybe because its AE and adjusts itself ? dunno ?

Lovely story and a great portrait of the lady

Agreed a good story. You did well to have her face well lit considering she was wearing a hat. I am wondering whether you managed to focus on one of her eyes and I think the portrait needs a little bit of sharpening. Photography is so subjective. But to your credit the old adage applies. If you do not ask you will not receive a reply. David

Agree with the sharpening , did later put through raw editor in PS 17 and improved a bit more , not lots as not to lose the summer haze feel . Did lighten in raw and a touch of spot light on face as sun behind , but pleased generally as managed reasonably to lighten and keep detail xxx

EP? Expoisure compensation?

When you set that, it should stay set, and there is probably an indication somewhere in the viewfinder of how it's set.

Minus 5/3 is a lot to compensate for in processing. Looking at the review on this site, there's a button marked +/- on the right of the top plate. I imagine that you hold that down while rotating the adjustment wheel on the back of the camera. Have a look HERE if you want a refresher.
