summit of the etna

By Guillaume
Sometimes those impulsive, without-thinking kinds of shots give good results I think. Yes, some of the highlights are burnt out, the composition may not be spot on or to everyone’s taste, there is some lens distortion but despite all this, I think the picture conveys the spirit of our trek to the summit of the Etna. The place had a certain lunar feel to it, desolated, arid, inhospitable, with toxic fumes floating everywhere and no places where to hide from the sun.

Excellent composition, the tiny figures disappearing over the horizon add to the desolate feel of the foreground textures.
Quality shot, the lens flare and butnt out lights just add atmophere to this fantastic image.

Was in Scilly for a holiday and a wedding last year and watched the lava flow most night while we were there .
