sunbeam of the week

By annettep38
Just before sunset last Friday , still at work. One spectacular ray of light all of a sudden lit up a grim day. My employee Sue shouted : Get your camera NOW.
which I did after I had finished hastily the phone call.

The vine on Christelle's house has been on here before .
this is as is, straight from the camera, just a slight crop and straightening. It might flop.. but I like it.
V2 is a small detail... taken under the balcony

many thanks to Graham for the UA and all those who visited the late clouded yellow

Wow, Annette, v1 the lighting is superb and a beautiful colour, may i suggest that you crop the left hand side, removing both cars but no further so the roof lines are maintained, it looks much better compositionally and i think the lighting looks even better. It still looks like a sunset, you dont need the bright area of fading sun in the image. Honestly, constructive critique, please dont feel offended. The lighting on the building and trees is so beautiful.
Well done.

Dear Darryl, I actually thought of that... but somehow it looked boring to me, too much grey. But I appreciate your hones and constructive remark and I have uploaded it as a version Smile

Hi, Annette, i agree it has lost a little of the impact, but you have only carried out the crop, it just need a little tweaking in the processing to enhance the lighting. ( i appreciate you have not had time to do this) Thanks for going to the trouble of a modification, its how we all learn. What do i know anyway, couple of awards and i think i am David baileySadSadSadSmile.
Cheers,
Darryl.

I immediately thought of the crop suggested too but having looked at your cropped version I realise you do need the light source in the picture so I prefer No. 1 but I would have cloned out the small white car. Nevertheless it is an enjoyable and atmospheric composition.

Well Annette, V1. for me a very distinctive light picking out the main colour in the shot, enhancing the drab grayness of the building, a nice photo in many respects, regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

V3 is also my favorite. I'm so glad you got your camera out in time. This kind of light is so fleeting. That beam of light on the red and on the yellow leaves is just beautiful.
