Sundown over Croyde

As usual In too much of a hurry before the sun whent completely I did not put on my Grad Filter for this shot.I have done as much as my limited expirience in PS will allow to try to rescue this shot from the bin,can anyone improve on this for me.

Hi there, landscapes are not really my thing. I first duplicated the layer. Then with the top layer selected I lightend using curves. I then very carefuly deleted the sky from the top layer before merging all layers together.

Brian, difficult shot to take but isn't Croyde bay great...

It might just be my eye but the horizon seems to drop from left to right, also i'm not sure if this will help (and i myself have not yet found the time to put this into practice) but I found this instruction in the technique section about high dynamic range (HDR) which might be worth a shot. apologies if i'm leading you up the garden path.
