Sunflower

By flowerpower59
Yesterday I shot several flowers outside against white card (despite the breeze) because it was nice diffused light out there and too hot in my usual spot in the bedroom. Some have higher ISO values than usual as I tried to keep the shutter speed up. I think I was having a mild panic that the seasons are changing fast and all the best flowers will soon be over. It's good to have some in reserve to play with when the shorter days come along. That's my excuse anyway.

Really nice one Fionna. I love the textured ground. Yes, getting worried that the flowers are disappearing fast but I look forward to the Autumn when all the seedpods are forming. Not to mention fungi and colourful leaves! In fact have an award!

A lovely full on Sunflower Fiona. They have such a good form for photography, the soft petals against the spikey bits.
I thought the centre of the flower was a bit dark so I did a mod just to lighten it a tad but....I got carried away and, softened the bg with a wee paint effect, lightened it a bit more with the brightness/contrast tool.
You provided me with a lovely image to start with though.

This is lovely Fiona, and the more I look at it the more I see.....the eye is so drawn to the centre. My award is most definitely yours!!

Both the original and the mod are beautiful. Like a painting. I prefer the background of the original but I do like the centre of the flower lightened slightly but not quite as much as the mod.

Very lovely. I think drooping and dying flowers are just as photogenic as the fresh ones, so plenty of material to come. Smile
