Sunlit Pinnacle ...

By sut68
A small interlude from the Skye shots and Localsh shots. To break up the long trip north, Fran & myself decided to stay just outside Cramlington so we could get both a sunset and sunrise in at St Mary's, as we'd never been there before let alone shot it.

Not entirely sure what this monolith is or was at the back of the lighthouse - maybe someone could enlighten me - but it caught the late light beautifully and made a suitable focal point to compliment the crashing waves in the foreground.

Apologies to everyone who lives in the nearby area for us not getting in touch, but the beach would've been too crowded if you'd all come along Wink

Cheers for dropping by, chilli is nearly ready so will catch up in a mo Smile

Lovely water exposure and fabulous light.
Its a Rangefinder for coastal defence guns - Built in 1914-the gunners up on the mainland at Tynemouth Priory used it as a range finder- I don't think they were allowed to aim to the left of that marker so as to avoid any damage to the lighthouse

Nicely done Mr S, I like the composition and the light on the 'range finder' is so nicely complimented by the same light and colour in the waves and on the rocks.

Cheers Tom, it's just a gap in the rocks where the sun managed to break through and light the splash.

Hope you get out this weekend,

Great light in this Paul. I suspect I may turn a few shades of green before the sacred card of compact flashness has been drained dry from this trip.
