Sunny Afternoon

By MalcolmS
Thornton Force on Sunday afternoon, very difficult lighting conditions with the falls being in shadow in the bright afternoon sun.
We did the whole Waterfall Walk, which meant that we arrived here later in the afternoon. Forgot to put the hiking boots in the car so did the four and a half miles in trainers, luckily I have been here before at least five times so knew this was possible.
There is limited opportunity for photos as most of the more spectacular falls are not accessible enough and only visible over a wooden post and rail fence.

I resisted the temptation to zoom in and avoid the bright areas as I didn't want to take the falls out of context, although technically it may have given better shot.

Looks best in the large version

Well captured Malcolm, it was very contrasty light wasn't it. I just read on the site earlier that it's easier going round the falls the opposite way, my legs were aching like mad the following day. It's a shame that we missed you and Norma.
