Sunrise Hike

By Dackj
I was hiking early last week with the pups and caught Baxter with the sunlight streaming in. I thought this was with my Canon but the details look like it was just my iPhone

Dogs and water...

A lovely moment, light plus the dogs enjoying themselves - but you still had their attention.

The wide angle has the effect of pushing them into the distance, so this can take a tighter crop - but still leaving enough context. Plus a rotation and a wee bit of dodging and burning.

It definitely looks like a wideangle shot, not a 70-200!

Decently composed, well exposed, and a nice memory shot however you took it.

It was a lovely time to be out with the dogs and to capture those sun's rays.

I appreciate the wider view, but immediately saw a crop, so I have done a modification with just Baxter in.

I cropped, maintaining your aspect ratio, placing the dog on a thirds intersection, and did a small Levels adjustment. The dog and the rays become the subjects. I felt there was too much water in the image, and the other dog couldn't be seen very well in the darkness of the top right area.

I had already cropped the photo but didnít consider cropping it in that close. I never like the second dog in the photo but didnít have the skill to retouch the image to that degree. Once again a new perspective has given me an idea that I had not seen by myself, thanks again for the mods.
