Lovely sky colours, I like the reflections on the glass too! I particularly like the silhouettes of the masts, something very romantic about those tall ships - well to me anyway Wink

The way the sky reflection merges with the green light from inside the building is quite amazing. It's beautiful to have the boat as well, but I'd like to see a portrait crop from the left hand side of the frame too.

Without doubt the best time of day for an outing to this site, Dougie: Fraser posted some images of the dawn looking upstream from here and I have always promised myself a trip over at this time, but as yet have never managed.
So worth while when you can capture light and colours like this, all reflected in the mirror frontage of the museum. A very fine image, my friend.
(PS.. I have to say I wish I could click on this one, though......R)

A cracker Bill. What a difference the time of day makes to an image. You have reallly put your mark on this location before this site is flooded with it.
The inclusion of the boats and the museum building is a master stroke and to omit either would take away the story telling.

Making the most of the lovely sunrise. And the building and ship facing each other - the old and the new. Excellent.

I agree and both the building and the boat have elements pointing upward, which catches my eyes.

Beautiful colors, my favorite time of the day before the world wakes up.
A nice study in lines too with the balance of the masts and the building.

Different for you Doug..good light and composition.
Seems that the disabling of votes has galvanised people to write some words....including me I might add.

Apart from the colours and reflections, I like how the parallel strip lights inside the building echo the parallel lines of the crossbars (not sure what they are really called) on the masts.
You are really making me look closer at a shot now, and try to put into words what I like about it Grin. (You're not a retired psychologist by any chance, lol)
So you found me out Moira, you see you've learned by trying to look at the image. Now I know that'll you'll do better because you really looked. Well done.

gorgeous light Dougie - we have competitions at both clubs to which I belong "night shots" I dont have anything to enter in - would you believe I have never been out at night with the cam and feel its time but alone I would feel vulnerable. Might have to give it a go sometime tho

So much to like here Dougie but what catches my eye is the reflection on the building gives the impression that you are looking through it to see that sunrise continue seamlessly across the image.
