With those subtle tonal gradations in the water I can't see how you could remove that big post in V1 and get a clean convincing result, and for me V2 is a non-starter. So of the two I'd go for V1 as it stands, though to be honest, if it was mine I'd probably reject it and put it down to experience. Sometimes you need to be ruthless, but that's just me.

What a superb sunset, Kate - and I love the smoothness that the 54 sec exposure has enabled.
Regarding the post - in V2 - I think sympathetic cloning and use of the healing brush could/would work wonders.
A bit time consuming but, maybe, worth it.
On the other hand, in V2, the post could be cropped out from the bottom and left; this, together with cropping the top of the image down as far as the start of the clouds on the right hand side would retain the rule of thirds balance.
Just my thoughts!
