The superfortress RB29A 'Over Exposed' crashed on Bleaklow on the 3rd November 1948 and the wreckage is still here to this day.

It's quite a place, there are crosses everywhere (and it's supposed to be haunted)

Thanks Trevor & Ruth for taking me up there and all over Bleaklow Smile

cheers for having a look

Hi Richard,

This is the wreck that saved my skin when I lost the dial from my compass last time I was out near marjorie hill (not sure of spelling). The fog was thick and it was also beginning to snow - I couldn't believe my luck when I found my compass dial broken (it fell out somewhere between bearing points - a silva too). Making an estimation of direction I walked until I stumbled across this wreck and at last had a landmark! Bit sppoky in the mist and snow though...

Hope all is well,

how spooky, I remember you telling me in Anglesey that you'd once been out walking and your compass lost it's needle - I never realised you were out here! I can imagine it being very spooky in the mist, there certainly is some atmosphere around this place isn't there!

all is good here Smile hows things with you?
