Supetar at Sunset

By WeeGeordieLass
Supetar is a small island about a mile off Cavtat in Croatia. One restaurant, uncrowded, peaceful, beautiful and, apparently, good for skinny dipping (according to a lovely Swedish lady I got chatting to).

Spent a couple of my favourite days on our recent holiday there wandering round with my camera, swimming off the rocks (not with the Swedish lady I hasten to add) and getting sunburnt.

I captured this shot from our motorboat on the way back to Cavtat after an idyllic day. Looking at it now, I so wish I was back there!!!

Thanks for looking.

During the war of the early 1990's i worked in a refugee camp on the island of Brac. There I met a refugee who came from Supetar. She used to walk round the camp singing about super Supetar. She was so disturbed by the war and it's impact on her life. Seeing your photograph makes even more clear to me what she was missing.

Thanks everyone.

Jade, that must have been an unforgettable experience for you, and you were very brave going there to help. There are still remnants everywhere to remind people of what happened there.....bullet holes in the buildings etc. it must have been terrfiying for the people. It's a beautiful country. We loved it and would go back there.

Cheers Peter, Trev and Keith
