Swaledale Barns&Walls

By howemick
Made this shot on a day out back in October in the Yorkshire Dales just outside Gunnerside, it was a bright day too bright really but the mist helped a lot to defuse the light and just give it that little bit of atmosphere.

Stunning landscape - works well in mono. Love the mist

Nice composition with the walls, and nice mono.

Nicely seen opportunity in the bright light. I find that if I crop the top just above the nearest tree line you get a stronger composition.

This could only be the Yorkshire Dales. Smile

For me, it needs just a little bit of a curves lift. It is misty so you don't want a lot of contrast but I think you need a bit more in the highlights. Most of the image is darker than the grey bands at the side of this page, which does make it look a bit flat and dark. I think I agree about the tighter crop being stronger; if you don't like that, I'd suggest toning down the church a bit, as it does grab the eye, somewhat.
