Swallowtail

By tomcat
A Swallowtail butterfly Papilio machaon taken yesterday at Strumpshaw Fen, Norfolk.

To see these flying at close quarters, is akin to seeing fairies at the bottom of the garden.

Many thanks to Matt & Julian for organising a fantastic day out.
Also thanks to the rest of the gang (Not all EPZ'ers) who's company was a delight to be in.

Hope you had a tad more success this afternoon, than we had this morning. There were patches of blue sky appearing, as I headed towards Norwich after lunchtime.

Wow what a cracker Adrian! I love the way you've captured it nectaring on the Dame's Violet. This looks like a perfect specimen.

Thanks for the kind words regarding the trip but Matt and I couldn't have made it happen without yours and all the others' valuable input and the friendship shown between everybody on the meetup.

Fond regards

I couldn't agree more Adrian!

It was lovely to meet you and I am glad you enjoyed the weekend. I certainly did too - Swallowtails (and lots more) and good company to share it with, what more could you ask for!

A good one here of the famous Strumpshaw Swallowtail and well done for getting a shot without one of the other many togs encircling it Smile

Hope to catch up with you again soon somewhere!

Matt

A pleasant surprise to 'bump' into you again at Strumpshaw Fen.
Superb shot, Adrian. And what a great feeling of achievement to bag a rarity like this within minutes of arriving at the site. It doesn't get much better.
Michael.
