Swan @ Chilham

By colmar
Good Morning,

Another from Chilham Lake, the swans were very happy to come close and get photographed.Mari had this one two feet from her lens . There are plenty of these beautiful birds and there not alone there are all sorts here and a place I will happily go again and again, as Jimv said in his comment on yesterdays upload "Are you saying this is a man-made lake Colin? If it is we've finally done something that almost outdoes nature itself," He is not wrong. More to come from this 26 acre man made quarry filled lake Smile

I suggest large for a larger view Smile and for window users f11 and ctrl+ ..... for mac user large and cmd+

Many thanks for the comment and votes on Chilham Lake Reflections, and indeed a few other images , all votes and constructive comment are gratefully received and truly appreciated. Colin and Mari

Love the water droplets here, (think she is a she!) looks like she has been diving for a reed root or two! Mari, you have a lot of detail in this and like the deep blue as bg

Sorry Colin and Mari but I read through all the comments and all have said how wonderful this is and passing the time of day as if it is a coffee morning chat rather than a Photographic Website.
The drops of water on the head are the only thing going for this, the neck whites are totally blown at the back and the main point of interest, the eye is bland with no highlight, also the dof lacks with an out of focus bill which should be showing the water drop on the end as sharp as a pin as that is where the eye is drawn to.
I have to be honest here and cannot understand how this has so many votes.
Sorry but I have to be honest.

I would like to say great shot Colin especially when you are so very supportive of my images but this time the back of the head is blown (by now you will have noted Richard's comment I need not go on about it) you have a great b/g and water droplets to, you do need to mind the sun or using flash but I guess you will have realised this - sorry I hate criticising and wish I could be more positive.

Colin I'm afraid I'm going against the flow of comments as well - unfortunately the whites / higlights is blown on this shot - they are attractive birds but on a bright day you have to compensate for exposure, as for the crop may I suggest next time you go try a side on capture & crop to the rule of thirds with a highlight in the eye - so important in bird photography, sorry this is meant as advise and not critism - Ina

All comments have been taken appropriately and indeed as I have said many times am not a bird photographer I and indeed Mari take images for our enjoyment etc.... so yes all comment above duly noted and of course all comment wil be acted upon through the fullness of time. Thanks to you all Colin
