Sweet Roses

By chase
Beautiful soft pink Roses from my garden.

Taken in daylight camera left.
Raw file sorted in Lightroom, finished in Photoshop.

I added a 'porcelain ' effect as described in this blog by John (dudler), I thought it might work on flowers, especially lighter ones against a light bg. I did bring back a little of the original on a masked layer.
There are two versions, V1 is before the effect, V2 is before I used the masking layer.
Thanks for the tips John, very much appreciated...sharing is caring Smile

Thanks for dropping by.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.
Janet xx

Scoops of strawberry ice-cream comes to mind!!!! I do like what you have done here but, call me a stick-in-the-mud, I do prefer V1 over the other two. Nice work, Janet.

Love them all. When given choices it seems one goes for more depth of colour but seen along I love them all.

Sunday's Observer had a recipe for apricot and rosewater ice cream, that's what I am seeing here.

When I first looked at the thumbnail, and indeed the full-size view, I too saw scoops of ice cream in a bowl! 🍨😋 A very lovely set up and presentation, Janet, the lead being my fave 👍

A lovely trio but V1 is my favourite Janet.

Thanks everyone.
Now I want some strawberry ice cream !!

I kinda like all of these, each has has its own merit I think.
Johns' tutorial is easy to follow and worth a go, just to try something a bit different.

As you say, Janet, they each have their own merits, but for me v1 without the effect is the one I would choose.Smile

V1 gets it for me, maybe the effect used selectively?Smile

Probably a little more selectively than I have used it here Ivor, just to bring out the petals a little more.... WIP...but fun trying something new.

Thanks everyone.

An appealing comp Janet - V1 for petal definition for me.

Thanks all.
No such things as 'sticks in the mud'...lol... it's all down to personal taste and how someone 'sees' an image, the world would be a very boring place if everything was the same Wink
